Appendicitis - Is there a cure?

Hi,
My daughter is 12 years old. About three days ago she came home from school with severe pain in the centre of the abdomen, around belly button, which comes and goes, with feeling rather sick. The pain then shifts to the lower outside edge of the abdomen on the right hand side. Also she has loss of appetite and has vomited a number of times on the first day. She is now constipated. The doctor has suggested that she has appendicitis and has given her antibiotics (Trimethoprim 200mg).
The doctor has suggested that we should not operate, but I am not sure how long these sympthoms will persist or whether they will be reoccurring in years to come. Can you please guide me to the best ways to treat my daughter, would you suggest colon cleansing for someone this young. I look forward to your reply.
