sorry to hear what you have been through. Welcome to our world. This is typical reaction by most docs. You could try another but you will likely get the same response. These meds are widely available on the net if you choose to circumvent your doc. I dont know that I would recommend this. These meds can have adverse side effects. Also, without properly isolating the bug and treating blindly you could make it worse. It does sound like it is pinworm and for many docs symptoms alone are diagnostic. You are also correct with the dosage with retreatment in 2 weeks. If you are not attached to the doc you might think about switching. Personally, I dont feel unbridled irritation from a doc is ever acceptable, particularly in a primary care. Even some of the most reknowned and highly trained docs are very gracious, so there's simply no excuse. You are also correct about the cough. With the DE you are essentially stirring up the pot, possibly causing some adults to migrate but more likely these are newly hatched larvae in their normal mirgation through the lungs. If you were to look at the "phlegm" under a scope, you mite see the larva. This is a normal phase of many round worm life cycles. Best Luck
