allergies and acne
Hi, it is my first time here. I'm turning 18 in October, in college. Does anyone have a problem where they find foods they eat or chemicals, pets, or other allergens they are around make their face break out? (I'm not talking about stuff like how chocolate gives you some pimples, I am saying full out breakouts on the face and neck). This is my problem, and interestingly as yet I haven't found any one else that has the same problem. If you think you have this problem, you should read what I am about to write. Even if you just have acne, rosacea, eczema (in truth, after 3 years I'm still not sure what I have but I think its most likely eczema), you should read this.
Like I said, I have had
Acne for 3 years. I started off going to the dermatologist and of course nothing worked. Accutane began to work but soon I started getting migraines (that occurs in like 2% of the users) so I had to stop. I went about a year with trying stupid thinks like facial masks and ProActiv which of course didn’t work. Well, about 14 months ago, I started realizing eating certain foods definitively made my face break out. Little by little, more of these foods did this and then I found being around pets did the same thing (by the way, as a kid, I was an "allergic" kid, always sneezing with pets and dust but never anything this bad).
Acne, as it probably has many of you, had been controlling my life mentally for about a year and so I was desperate....really. I found more and more stuff that was making me breakout, and I reduced my diet severely to tasteless foods and would do stuff like not go over a friend's house if they had a pet or would try to avoid sitting next to friends that had a pet because some of the dander on their jackets might set off a reaction. Some of the stuff became absolutely unavoidable so I had to do something. My mom found this treatment called NAET online. We tried it.
NAET combines Chinese massaging and other chiropractic techniques with accupuncture to completely eliminate an allergy - not like shots where they come back in a couple of years. Here's the deal: its not cheap (60 dollars an appointment where I go, I have heard upwards of 250 for each), it can be a hassle. Each appt., you get 'cleared' of one allergen and you wouldn’t believe some of the stuff I proved to be allergic to. When you come the first time, the doc tests a bunch of stuff on you -- they put a vile in your hand and she pushes down on your arm and you try to hold it up. If you can hold her arm, the allergen is not affecting you. If you can’t hold the doctor’s arm, the “chi” has been disrupted by the allergen, weakening your body. Well, for example, on that first day I proved to have a strong allergy to Vitamin A. Interesting, seeing that I got migraines from super-Vitamin A Accutane?! I knew when that happened that this procedure had some truth to it.
Here I am, 47 appointments later (some people may need to go 15 times, others 150!) and continuing to find new things, unfortunately, that I am allergic to. My face, overall, has gotten much better - not as red at all and breakouts are not as bad). After I am cleared of something, my face sometimes breaks out as part of the detoxification process and I still have other occasional breakouts. I go 2 or 3 times a week to a place 1 hr- 1.5 hrs away, so its a struggle.
I must reiterate, once again, that allergy was controlling my life in an unhealthy manner and I needed to do something. If you are desperate and have a similar problem or even just regular
Acne (it can treat both) and are willing to make a commitment, do it. I highly suggest it. Please, if you have any individual questions email me at timfoley1019@yahoo.com. Thanks
