Is Syria next ...
on the blood thirsty Bu$h trail for oil. Need to secure the region I guess. Then Iran and who ever else gets in the way.

POWELL ISSUES ULTIMATUM TO SYRIA

March 31, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Colin Powell last night issued a new warning to Syria to end its support for "the dying regime of Saddam Hussein" in next-door Iraq, or face the consequences.
Powell's warning came two days after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld threatened to hold Syria accountable for "hostile acts" in allowing military gear to be shipped to Iraq.
"Syria can continue direct support for terrorist groups and the dying regime of Saddam Hussein or it can embark on a different and more hopeful course," Powell told the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC. "Syria has the responsibility for its choices and for the consequences."
Over the weekend, the State Department said that Damascus officials, "at the highest levels," were told about Syrians believed to be shipping military gear into Iraq. Syria denies there are such shipments.
Rumsfeld's threat to hold Syria accountable for "hostile acts" sounded like a thinly veiled threat of military force. When asked if that's what he meant, Rumsfeld replied that his warning was "carefully phrased."
Powell also issued a more muted warning to Iran, saying it must stop its support of
Terrorism against Israel and stop the pursuit of weapons of mass destruction.
