It's not unusual for people to convince themselves of things (that's all belief is, anyway). I've managed to convince myself of things on occasion, and I've had to unconvince myself after having taken enough abuse from the consequences of my beliefs, so I know a little bit about this phenomenon. I wouldn't be surprised if George truly believed that his actions are divinely guided.

I don't think he's genuinely following what Christ is actually about. In fact, I'm certain of it. That does not, however, mean that he isn't being what he thinks Christian is -- which, given the history of the last 2,000 years....
