Acupuncturist says BEWARE

I spoke to my acupuncturist today about Chiu's rings. He said he had experience of them and that in many people wearing magnets lowers the white blood cell count. He didn't think magnets were a good idea over the long-term and could be damaging in places you can't see, causing problems in the future. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
