Health Scince behind applying mark on the forehead

Forehead is the region where we have the Agna Chakra,
the third eye, which is the sixth and most important
chakra in our body. This is also called the Wisdom
Centre, which is the english name. This Centre makes
us to understand the Wisdom and realise our inner self
and know "who am I". This third eye should be touched
with the solar finger atleast once in a day, so that
the solar energy is activated into our Agna chakra.
Solar finger is stated because Sun God is the most
visible form of wisdom energy for us. So touching the
Agna Centre with this finger activates this flow of
energy.

In the earlier days everyone (both male and female)
used to put some sort of kumkum by way of which they
used to activate this chakra. This kumkum could be the
turmeric or Viboodhi or any thing of that sort which
is direct natural product (Here also the colour of the
kumkum has its own meaning). But this process has to
be done very conciously, devotionally and with lot
care. Then the necessary changes do happen in us. This
is the purpose behind putting the kumkum.

Here the most important part is to touch the fore head
portion to activate the Agna chakra.

This practive exists in other religions also in
different forms. For example, Muslims touch earth with
their forehead while doing namaz. Christians also
touch their fore head while doing their prayers. In
Hinduism, the added advantage of putting the naturally
extracted kumkum is that it has lot of medicinal
values also.

There is clear philosophical meaning and medicinal
value for the kumkum (with whatever colour like red,
white etc. but without any artificial content) and for
the round shape of the kumkum put on the fore head.

But the present day people put some stickers with gum
and of different unwanted colours, different
meaningless shapes and also very casually. This made
the process very unnatural, very artificial and hence
it lost its significance. These stickers spoil their
forehead portion due to their artificial contents.
This is the reason why many women are getting some
permanent marks on their forehead after some years.
