pain

We avoid pain. We dislike it intensely. However, physical pain is a useful sign that something is physically wrong. The worst pain is the emotional pain that we experience in the hamster cage of life. Loss. The world is convulse with it. We run away from it and develop defensive mechanisms that tie us down, reducing our happiness. We mimic other people's bad behaviour so that we can feel power and belonging which adds to both ours, and everyone else’s defensive shield. We continually find life exponentially difficult; finding more and more reasons not to be confident. Quite often illness (ME/Allergies etc.) find a foot hole and the downward spiral leads effortlessly down the slippery pole. Tension creeps in to every gesture and life becomes a hell.

Enzyme treatment and vitamin injections can help with the physical illness, but in my opinion the help has to come from within. Quite often someone who has been cured of serious allergies by enzyme treatment can be still left with long term ME. If we free ourselves from the defensive tangle that we have erected under fire, we can truly discover our true talents and develop our confidence. I have taught singing and performance for many years. It is impossible to perform while tied and gagged with tense defensive behaviour. Therefore the touchstone to their vocal/performance improvement is therapy. As we unshed our inhibitions, we open ourselves to the person within. We develop confidence. It is a painful process but totally necessary for singing performance and the performance of life. Usually it is because they don't like themselves (which can lead to eating disorders because of a perceived loss of control), or somebody close to them has died and they did not face the pain. In some way, who can blame them? Unfortunately it is the only way to free yourself. FACE THE PAIN!
