Re: Selection of teachings
Excellent questions.. I'll try and give it a shot:
1) In becoming like little children Christ refers to the pure heart of a child which has not been polluted by a bunch of negative emotions and conditioning. In this manner it is easier to live a God led existence. Child-like and childish are two different things. Child like refers to the above. Childish behavior in an adult person is an immature, selfish reaction to situations. This of course, is not what Christ meant.
2) What constitutes judgement is a loaded can of worms because there are such fine lines here. I believe it all depends on the particular situation. The Word says you are to judge by the fruits. If a person consistently exhibits a certain type of negative behavior, then making that observation is not a judgement. You are simply looking at the fruits. However *what you do with that information* can certainly become judgement. Hence, you will always form opinions, because you have been given a mind, but you are responsible for whether you choose to share or impose that opinion.
Thank you to both of you for posting the Scriptures and the questions. It sure forces us to think about things we might not if we just concentrate on our daily cares! :-)
