The irony of this is so not funny.

Imagine what the world would be like if all the resources the US spent on and colected from covert operations, drugs, drug running, wars, military support of foreign countries, etc., were instead funneled into education, food production, and infrastructure improvement around the world. And what if the USA followed the advice of its founders and otherwise left the rest of the world alone?

Does anyone really believe, in such a case, that anyone would consider for even a second bombing the USA?

No, they're just a bunch of religious zealots. That's why they hate us.

Uh-huh.

It takes a religious zealot to make up false reasons for why another religious zealot is dangerous, rather than to see the blatantly obvious.

A guy who acts like a jerk -- thinks only of himself, treats others with disrespect, etc. -- has no real friends. Sure, if he's also rich, then there are those who will "play" friend as long as they've got something to gain from it.

A country which acts like a jerk and is also rich gets treated the same way. Our "friends" will be our "friends" as long as it serves them financially, since finance is the only thing we have to offer. And we're fast running out of that.

Respect can be earned. We earned the respect of the world on occasion. We have since lost it. We don't really deserve any right now.

"Patriotic" Americans can pretend otherwise, but resting on one's laurels is considered pathetic when a person does it. It's much worse when a country does it. It's tragic when a country uses its past laurels to justify being an international terrorist.
