Re: Ann Margaret & Her Gentlemen

Wow, I will enjoy her movies even more after hearing this touching story. It reminds
me of a situation years ago when I was at a local festival in Excelsior, Minnesota.
There was thousands there
and one man with a cap with Viet Nam writtten on it. I remarked to him
" Oh you were in Viet
Nam?" He got rather testy and said " yes, what of it?" I said well I would just like to
thank you for your sevice. He looked at me with the strangest expression and then just ran
away very fast in the crowd. About a year later I read in the news paper a letter to the
editor his letter describing what happened to him at the Apple Days festival with a lady
who said this to him. He said he was never thanked and something happened to him
that day...he felt better about himself and life in general and he said he had gone home
that day and wept. I felt so humble that my few words could affect someone who
deserved so much more at all. My husband had read the letter first and handed it to
me with a statement..."That was you, wasn't it?" I said yes, but how did you know?
He said you are always thanking the service men...My response was " and I always
will." How easy it is to say a few kind words and help our brothers along..I challenge
eveyone to tell someone soon how much you are grateful for the sacrifice they have
made serving our great country. And thanks Southern for the great story..Angela.
