Dogma or Catma??
I'm now going to outline The Royal Trap, as posited by Antero Alli..
Maps, at best, refer us to the territory accessible through direct experiential contact. To expand intelligence*, make maps as fast as you can absorb information. so you can keep intergrating. Adjust the maps you have, to synchronize close with the territory or simply create new maps, ones with enough space to permit new incoming information. Without this continual updating. it's very easy to begin living in the past, as new information arrives daily(hurray!). It's easy to get attached to a particular map and get caught eating the menu instead of the meal.
When we fall in love with a map over the very territory itself, a wily creature is born that we'll call DOGMA. This most nefarious species of literary canine is known for it's rigid, dogged grip on things. It has been seen to pop it's pithy head into the most emotional of places. Last but not least, dogma has been historically recognised for its ability to defend-to-the-death premises long outdated by the ever-expending rate of new scientific breakthroughs and spiritual revelations(BOO!).
As Fallen Angels we are graced with living in the Age of Relativity which has spawned a new breed of philisophical animal in CATMA, or 'relative disbelief.' Unlike the absolute belief of dogma, catma doesn'y have to believe in anything.(This includes the belief of not having to believe in anything) If properly fed, groomed and cared for, catma will keep dogma's quite bust chasing their own tails. If you listen closely, you can hear them bark, "Truth! Proof! Proof!" (For those listening closely I'll divulge a secret, The truth will se you free but it may make you miserable first;-)
look for messages arriving daily from the No Coincidences Dept...Crisis is Opportunity...Suffering a Mask for Growth...Mistakes are God leaks...Personal Tragedy is Spiritual Victory....Disillusionment is Illumination...
I thank Antero Alli for the ideas presented here and add I don't believe in them, I just use them as any good scientist would until a model I think works better comes along.
* Intelligence might need a definition for semantic usefulness, so here goes...Intelligence is the ability to absorb, process and communicate information and/or energy.
Works for me.
