Liver Flush, No Epsom Salts...
Hi Tracey, it's been a week since I've been on so I missed your post asking me about the flush that I do. Like I said, I like Julia's recipes. I tend to be hypoglycemic and so I will not do the applejuice fasting again. The one I do is the gallbladder flush. I eat whole foods without fat for a whole day. I have fruit, my own bread with just jam(no fat in my bread), I make soup with chick peas, whole wheat pasta and tomato juice, carrots, anything without fat, I make sure I'm never hungry. Sometimes I eat again at 7:00 with my husband but I generally start the flush at about 9:00pm. So about an hour before bed I drink 1/4 cup of olive oil mixed with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice. I repeat this process every 15 minutes until a total of 1 cup each of olive oil and 1 1/2 cups of grapefruit juice is finished. I then go to bed and lie on my right side. I must say I can't get the last 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice down. Julia says to take 1
quart of warm distilled water with the addition of juice from half a lemon the next morning. She also advises to eat only softly cooked vegetables the second day. I don't do these last two steps either(bad girl) I can't by then I've had enough! As the stones have been getting bigger I kind of zoomed into the "If a stone gets stuck on its way out," section on Julia's website. She says that if one gets stuck the olive oil/juice flush may be repeated. Three teaspoonfuls of
Epsom Salts in a cup of warm water should be taken 2 hours before the
OO (Olive-Oil) and juice to dilate the duct. Instead of the
Epsom Salts you can do 1 tablespoon each of Coptis and Curcuma taken together. I had Coptis but no Curcuma, so I did a tablespoon of that. Tracey, it's the best flush yet, maybe the coptis dilated the duct so that the big ones could get out. Anyway I'm glad I found this flush because I just can't talk myself into those
Epsom Salts ! Plus if I don't eat I get hypoglycemic. This way I can eat all day and the sugars don't drop. Oh yeah and my brother does buy the ornithine in Canada at our health food store. Remember someone was asking us? When is your next flush Tracey.....??... I'm gonna get the Stonhedge Police after you!!!!!!
