Problems with Ants...

Around this time of the year every year i get a huge problem with Ants in the Kitchen work surface. Keeping the surface clean and dry helps a little but they are generally back within an hour. Any ideas on what i can do to eliminate this problem? Any suggests wellcome, Thanks.
