Guaifenesin vs. fibromyalgia
Guaifenesin had no effect on my fibromyalgia.
I'm not the only one who has not been helped by Guai. Once, at a support group, a guy told me he'd been on it a full year, with no effect whatsoever. My experience (3 years ago) is that I ordered 100 pills (600 mg. each) and started at 600 mg. per day, but after a few weeks, I was not feeling ANY cycling, despite going on a strict salicylate-free diet (which was a GIANT nuisance). So I tried upping the dosage gradually at that point to 1200 per day, & then 1800 per day. NO DICE. ZILCH. NADA. It seems to me that not all fibromyalgics are woven from the same cloth.
Toward the end of 2002, I saw a kineseologist & another alternate practitioner. The bottom line is that for years I've had an imbalanced nervous system, allergies, out-of-whack immune system & pain. I was also told that my liver is only 70% functional, and that I have metal toxicity. I often have metallic taste & achy teeth. I'm sensitive to bright lights (ElectroMagnetic Field Sensitivity is connected to dental mercury), and I have a mouthful of
Amalgam that's interlaced in my teeth. I also have bouts of heavy bleeding including urethral bleeding, and sore toes which are supposed to be related to liver dysfunction.
I've grown weary of the constant cycle of attempting to sift to the truth, only to be disappointed - over & over again. The latest therapy I've been trying is Traditional Chinese Medicine - and it's a vicious, rigid regimen. The stuff tastes vile, too. Thus far, I've been on the program about 2 weeks, but don't feel any different. I'm wondering about whether NeuroModulation Technique or Field Control Therapy might help - but they're very expensive and no local practitioners, so there'd be inconvenience as well.
