Fatal Side Effects!! Please Help!

My Dermatologist perscribed for me a perscription called SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 Teva which is generic for Bactrim DS. I think the DS stands for double strength. I am afraid to take it because I have heard bad things about my dermatologist and the side effects of his medications and how the medicines don't help the Acne at all. I am actually considering taking the pills though, because I really need to do something about my acne. My Acne is causing me severe depression. People make fun and tease me about my acne, and it really gives me a low self esteem. Should I take the medicine (Bactrim DS) that my doctor perscribed for me?
