Are my spots caused by perfumed beauty products?

I am 26 and have had mild problems with spots on my back and chest since puberty. However over recent years I have had severe attacks of Acne of my upper body when the skin has come into contact with certain products - shampoos and sun tan lotions. After such an attack, I showed my doctor who refused to accept that it was a perfume allergy despite the fact I had suffered it on holiday immediately after applying perfumed sun tan lotion. He diagnosed an infection of the hair follicle that could only be treated with Antibiotics . The anit-biotics had no effect and I was left with a back completely covered in spots for some weeks. I am certain that my skin does react to these products and now only use non-perfumed shampoos and shower-gels and have not had a severe attack for sometime. Is this a known reaction? Am I alone? Can I do anything other than avoid all contact with perfume?Furthermore I am still plagued with mild Acne on my back, neck and chest and my skin is rarely clear. What is causing these spots? How do I prevent them?
