Bailey,

I've been using coconut oil for over a year now. I get the unrefined organic stuff from Whole Foods -- Spectrum brand for $5 per pint. For $4/pint you can get the refined, bleached & deodorized stuff, but unless you object to the smell of coconut, why?

I use it all over my body after baths, steam/sauna and showers. It does take about 30 minute to soak into the skin, so evening is best unless you have liesurly mornings. I put just a dab on the bones around my eyes after my morning shower and it absorbs by the time I arrive in the office. If you apply makeup, it wouldn't work, however.

After using it for a couple days, it made my skin feel rough -- like it is extra thirsty and chapped. I slathered ever more on, trying to do it on moist skin. After a week or so, my skin exfoliated and became smooth and glowing.

I've seen my smile lines diminish, my hands soften and become tender again. Athletes foot is no longer an issue and calluses on my feet have disappeared. Even my knees and elbows have responded. All my life, they've been greyish and tough. Now they seem cleaner and don't have the build up of dead skin.

Even my mother-in-law is now using coconut oil. She lives in the frigid midwest and in the winter, her skin cracked and bled, even using heavy lanolin lotions. No longer. Every time she visits, I send her home with a fresh bottle.
