Re: I've Cracked the Code
You seem to be attacking evolution in general, and then focus only attacking neo-darwinists and then agreeing that natural selection does exist (even though not the main force as you say).
I just want to have a good idea on where you stand:
Do you believe in traditional Darwinism? Do you believe that all creatures were placed on earth at same time without the helping hand of evolution (meaning all creatures evolved into more complex ones from single celled organisms)? Do you believe Eve came from one of Adam’s rib? (I think that’s how the story goes); Do you believe in “raw material variations” between individuals on a genetic level? Do you believe in the presence of genetic diseases (Down syndrome and the like)? Do you believe that dinosaurs existed?
Do you believe in continental drift? Do you believe in extinction of species? Do you believe in the scientific approach on the formation of our solar system? Do you believe that everything is undergoing change?
In my view, one of the dangers of most religions is that it (perhaps involuntarily) latches on to invariability: perhaps due to human nature, we seek stability and grab on to everything from values and beliefs to physical matter. The human lifetime is apparently a split of a second of the total picture, so any idea that cannot be physically experienced throughout our lifespan will be met with resistance. Specially an idea claiming that a slooooow gradual process is occurring but we cannot physically experience the change because our lifespan is too short. Out of sight out of mind! The brain does not compute this very well as it is out of its realm, so given the suggestion that everything was created and then there was no change (God created it so it must be perfect so no need for change) it sounds more comforting – constancy eludes to stability which gives us that warm fuzzy feeling.
Everything is in constant flux – nothing is permanent – change is the only constant. My brain may not initially realize this, but change occurs at every level of life, (our brains were not meant to be picking up on those little details, unless other priorities are fulfilled).
If you believe that everything does change, as in the earth changes, mountains grow, continents drift apart, climates change, we age, the bible turns to dust, etc, etc, then why are we not capable, or more like not have the privilege of growing and going through changes? Because God made us perfect? What fun is that if everything is perfect (meaning no change is necessary), no motivation to explore and learn and live – there needs to be challenge (survival certainly is a good one). This is not a question of there’s evolution or not as much as it is a philosophical logic question.
Could you also expand on us humans (and other creatures) being highly adaptive to many environments, what are our limitations (and why if any) and what is the reason behind it – can we grow an arm back if it gets eaten by a shark? Why not? Can we grow and extra heart before the other one gets clogged up? Why not? Environmental certainly affected me as an individual yet there are many limitations which can cause my demise.
Constant change is going to stay
