I would just like to state that liver enzyme changes for the better do not indicate the liver is healthy by all means.
If this person has HCV (elevated enzymes for 10 years lead me to believe this person does have HCV) then the virus is still causing damage.
Liver enzymes fluctuate everyday. With HCV they fluctuate often.
Many people are unaware that just because the ALT and AST's are lowered or normal by all means does not indicate the extent of liver damage and does not mean the virus is "cleared". (meaning non active).
As of to date, there is no clearance of liver disease going by elevated liver enzymes.
