NO! Fortune tellers are not always right. In fact, fortune tellers are NEVER right in the sense that they actually can read/tell your fortune. On the chance occasions when fortune tellers appear to be right, it's because they either a) guessed (and if you pay close attention you'll see that they guess wrong more often than they guess right), b) were able to tell things about you by your clothing, behavior, body language, and other nonverbal signals, c) made such general comments that they could apply to almost anyone, such as "I sense that you are worried about money....I see an older woman....she is not kind to you..." (I mean, gee whiz, any of us could think of an older woman who's been not nice to us at some point, right? And who isn't worried about money?) or d) without your realizing it, got information from you through carefully worded questions and were able to intuit more about you based on what you've told them.

I'm not saying these people don't believe in what they're doing. Maybe they do. But there is no such thing as fortune telling. Repeat that several times until you believe it. There IS such a thing as having a skill for reading people and intuiting things about them. Most of us can do it. Have you ever met someone and felt like you knew something about them right away? Maybe you could sense that they were sad, or unhappy in their marriage, or worried about their kids. Women especially are good at this. Fortune tellers have developed this skill to a great degree through practice. Any of us could do it if we practiced.

I am sorry to hear about your job-search problems. I know how hard it is right now to find a job. My brother's going through that, and it is really stressing him and his wife. I too have had trouble finding a job in the past. So it may *feel* like somebody put a curse on you. But it's NOT A CURSE. Fortunately, no one has the ability to put a curse on anyone else. What is making your job search hard is the economy. The number of jobs and the kind of jobs that are available is changing all the time. It's really hard to keep up with all the changes.

The best thing I can tell you is to NOT GIVE UP in your job search. I know how hard it is, but just keep plugging along. Keep going back and back to the same places you've applied, so you'll be the first one they think of when something comes up. Try different approaches, like offering to work a free day as a "working interview" so they can see how well you do, etc.

Finally, please Pleeeaaase don't let this fortune teller get you down. She might have said this to get you to come back for more fortunes or in order to have her "break the curse" for some amount of money. Remember, it is not possible to tell fortunes, and there are no curses.
