Amen. Our church did the "40 Days of Purpose" and I had misgivings about it. To me it was just another universal church activity so we could all say we were on the same page. It didn't tell me anything new and really didn't emphasize the Gospel.

I agree with the article you quoted on the fact that real Christians don't need to sign any documents. But there's a lot more than this issue that's not right with the churches today. I did a study once on how the modern church differs from the 1st century church, and it made me realize just how far we have strayed.
