Yes, I also did a similar holding the end of the candle in my fist so as to create a vacuum such as it would in your ear. I let it burn down just as far as it would in your ear - to about 4" - and when finished, the end of the candle was full of "earwax", in fact it was blocking the open end of the candle and some had dripped out.
