Re: Colon health

Hi Cytrynka,

Thank you very much for your welcome message and your question.
I try not to prescribe any particular diet, because in general diets do not work. What works, is understanding the basic anatomy and physiology of the digestive system, and what our digestive system needs in order to work properly. When the digestive system is working properly, a balanced whole foods diet
some cooked, (properly cooked not overcooked) some raw, some fermented foods, a little bit of everything, as long as it is organic quality, seems to work just fine. I have studied traditional diets for over 30 years, and find that healthy people from all cultures ate a very wide variety of interesting foods! Today, of course, we are so far off course from traditional foods, preparation techniques, and eating habits, that to restore health to the digestive system really requires a fundamental shift in thinking and doing to be effective.

However, generally speaking, my functional nutrition program consists of the following things:

Proper daily hydration via the watercure.
Whole grain porridge: not rolled oats, not steel cut oats,
not corn meal...but traditional whole grain porridge. The same whole grain porridge recipes used by Hippocrates in Greece, and natural healers in India, China and Japan.
Lightly steamed vegetables
some raw vegetables if thoroughly chewed
raw fruits, but only eaten separately.
some vegetable juicing
cooked grains and beans have been staples for centuries
but some compromised digestive systems tolerate so little
everyone must be looked at individually and comprehensively.

The diet to restore digestive system health can look very different from the diet one can eat when healthy...
but to maintain that healthy digestive system certain fundamental foods, supplements and habits will always be helpful.
