It is probably best to modify your diet so there will be less strain on the digestive system.


Avoid solid food or hard to digest food. Maybe for now, vegetable juices, ground meat, tuna, cottage cheese and milk as sources of protein. The bulge seems to increase after a big meal because of the strain of digestion. Depending on the texture of the mesh used, I would think that there is some degree of abrasion and the tissue would have to develop some resistance to the texture of the mesh.

You don't mention the type of hernia or the type of surgery that you had. Recovery from hernia repair depends on these factors. If you had a small hernia and the surgery was done laparoscopically, recovery is quicker than if you had a larger hernia with an open surgical procedure. Recovery time from hernia repair may range from 1-2 weeks if done laparoscopically, or up to 6 weeks if the surgery was an open procedure. After any surgery, scar tissue forms at the site of incision in the skin, which may explain the lump that you now feel. If you feel that there is still a hernia in the area that you had repaired, you should check with your doctor.
