I hope someone can answer my questions

My partner (male) never goes to the Doc. Well, he returned from a business trip this week with two swollen "squishy" spots, below his navel, above the public hair line, and he denies pain, but says he is uncomfortable - does this sound like a hernia? it is symetrical, not asymetrical as I thought a hernia would be. Someone suggested we look into this - what do the different types of hernias mean, place of hernia?

Any information would be appreciated.
