Re: candida and menstrual cramps
Hi there
I would definitely agree here - in the last couple of years my menstrual cramps have been so severe I've been up most of the night on which it happens, doubled up in agony and crying with the pain it is seriously so bad. Sometimes aromatherapy oils and a really hot bath can help, but last month I resorted to taking NSAID's (non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs) which I know can cause or excarbate leaky gut, but to be honest I would rather take more l-glutamine and try to heal the gut again the week after my period, than go through the period pain because it is really debilitating.
The liver is definitely linked - I spoke to my nutritionist about it and she thinks becaus the liver is blocked/under-functioning/over-stressed trying to deal with the candida, it then has a hard time dealing with the excess oestrogen producing during menstruation, and this then gives way to the severe cramps and PMT symptoms.
I've also tried taking MSM, which can help the liver also and it can also help with muscle cramps (a lot of sports-people and gymnasts take it for this purpose).
I've been back on the anti-candida diet for a few months now and really do feel a hell of a lot better - so we'll see what this month has in store when it's 'that time' again!
I hope you experience some relief soon though and your cramps will get better before they get worse - good luck to you and good health also!
