I think Dr Hamer is on to something concerning the roots of disease. If what he is implying here is true than many diseases can be traced back to emotional causes. This is where the use of EFT and other energy therapies come in. This is the cutting edge of medicine in my humble opinion.

A New Understanding of “Disease”

"The German New Medicine® is based on the findings of medical doctor Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer. From over 40,000 case studies, Dr. Hamer discovered that every disease originates from a traumatic event that catches us completely off guard. He established that, when we experience an unexpected conflict like an unexpected separation, an unexpected loss of a loved-one, or sudden worries or anger, the brain triggers a biological emergency program to respond to the exact conflict being experienced. He found that the very moment the trauma occurs, the shock impacts a specific area in the brain causing a lesion which is visible on a brain scan as a set of concentric rings. With the impact the shock is communicated to the corresponding organ. Whether the organ reacts with the development of a tumor or with cell loss, depends on the nature of the conflict and the brain layer that is involved. Taking into account our knowledge of the evolution of man, Dr. Hamer’s studies show that a tumor growth or a loss of tissue happens, not by chance, but for a very particular biological purpose and that “disease” is never an error of nature but rather a “Meaningful Special Biological Program” designed to assist us in resolving a specific conflict.
Let’s look at an example: The corium skin which is the skin layer underneath the epidermis (the outer skin) developed when creatures left the water environment and a skin was needed to protect them from the radiation of the sun, from drying out and from attacks. The biological conflict linked to the corium skin is therefore, as Dr. Hamer calls it, an “attack-conflict”. So, when the skin of an animal or of a human is unexpectedly “attacked”, for example, through excessive exposure to the sun, the cells at the affected site immediately start to proliferate in order to provide a protective layer (a thicker skin) against more attacks of this kind. It is this natural cell buildup that is commonly called a melanoma or skin cancer. The growth of the tumor that was initiated by the conflict is directed from the cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls the corium skin. Hence, when we look at the brain scan of people with skin cancer, we will find the lesion always at exactly the same location in the brain. From a biological point of view, the “tumor” is not a random cancerous growth but rather an archaic form of defense because our ancestors only had the corium skin. This explains why women who have had a breast removed often develop skin cancer at the operated site. If the image of the amputation or the amputation itself is experienced as an “attack” against the breast, the natural biological program of forming a protective tumor will be set in motion as it has been doing for years.
Dr. Hamer also discovered that every disease runs in two phases. During the first, conflict-active phase, our entire organism (the psyche, the brain and the related organ) is focused on resolving the conflict. While a tumor grows on the organ level in order to deal physically with the exceptional situation, our mental and emotional energies concentrate on finding a resolution to the problem, typically by being totally preoccupied with the conflict or by generating extra waking hours (“sleep disturbance”). This stress tonus is most significant because only if we manage to resolve the conflict can we enter the healing phase. During this second phase, the affected organ, the psyche and the brain lesion, all undergo a period of repair and recovery. If a tumor grew during the conflict-active phase, the now superfluous cells will be broken down and decomposed with the assistance of microbes that have been trained to do just that. This healing period is often accompanied by fatigue, fever, inflammations, discharge, infections, and pain.
Since standard medicine fails to recognize the two-phase pattern of every disease, symptoms of the repair phase like arthritis, atherosclerosis, laryngitis, pneumonia, or infections like hepatitis or the “flu”, are considered as diseases although they are, in fact, manifestations of a natural healing process.
The therapeutic aspects of the German New Medicine® are manifold. A brain scan and a thorough medical history are vital to determine whether the person is still conflict active or already healing. If still in the active phase, the focus is to identify the original trauma and to develop with the patient a strategy to resolve the conflict. There are, however, circumstances under which it is not advisable to resolve the conflict since the resolution can potentially trigger a life-threatening healing phase. Only an authorized GNM-practitioner has the proper training to identify such precarious situations. During the healing phase it is important to support the patient psychologically and, if necessary, medically. Above all, it is essential to create an environment free of fear and panic so that the patient can complete the healing process without the danger of new conflict shocks."
