Re: Moctezuma's Revenge

The first time we went to Mexico as a family was back in the summer of '71. We drank the bottled water and tried to be careful of what we ate. We made it through the trip without anybody getting sick until the last day or so, when my little sister got the revenge. I had always heard it was an ameoba dysentery and I had heard it called Montezuma's Revenge or the Mexican Two Step or The Trots.

I traveled there many years later in 1987 and met a fellow traveler who got sick from eating lettuce. I made it fine through my trip until I got to my last stop, Cancun, and then I got a touch of something. I think it was bad seafood that was covered up with some sort of thick white sauce to hide it.

I have also heard that the locals have immunity to the stuff in their water supply.
