Hi Grog.... I didn't direct my comment to you but i can see how you could have felt that way, since it was under your original post. A friend of mine went to AA hundreds of times and she still died from drinking herself to death. I am just trying to discover the dynamics of alcoholism in a rational way, so I can understand why I lost my friend. I agree with your thoughts about diet and Sugar and even some of what you say about AA. I also know that there are millions of AA success stories. I don't believe one size fits all. All that said, I can see both sides of the argument but I am going through this greiving process and it really hasn't made sense to my heart or mind yet. I just can't understand the dynamics of alcoholism and why people would get up every day and start killing themselves with alcohol? I just want to have some peace about it and that is why I have been posting questions and searching...hoping to find a few answers. The pat answers don't work for everyone... so I am open to what you have to say. I have been to many AA meetings and I still sneak into open meetings from time to time; while I can't speak in them, I have found they even help me... so I am certain they must be doing others good. It just doesn't work for everyone but it does work if you work it.

I have never had less stress in my life since my alcoholic died and has been out of my day to day life but I miss my friend and just can't seem to understand why she would not ever eat right after she would quit? I couldn't make her eat right. She had a powerful way to control the circumstances that created an unhealthy lifestyle that would lead her back to drinking. It was like combat and I was dragged into her fight and every day I thought I could become colatteral damage and that I might die just from being around that self-destructive spirit she had in her.
