I don't know jack about cheilitis but...

Since there is such a wide array of newly-discovered pathogenic links to maladies, and these are often helped with a double course of Doxycycline, I'd hit the scrip trail. For example, I think Yersinia Colitica and the related Yersinia Paratuberculosis bonds with or binds collagen (per an abstract in an Arthritis journal). This is a rod shaped bacilli, and is Doxycycline susceptible.

Yersinia can become systemic, and have latent effects, like joint pain. So what if a theoretical chronic exposure or latent effect from contact with Yersinia-carrier farm animals, raw milk, meat or shellfish, is targeting the collagen of the unique lip tissue?

Perhaps State of the Art Instruments blood, lymph and gut cleansing protocol could be used to provide pathogenic attenuation or extermination. Here's their link. May the Great Physician grant us healing!
