Re: Jon Barron says...
Propolis,
I am the first person to always say, research what you read if you doubt it or need to verify it. So, shoot an email to Jon Barron and ask where this evidence of thickening arterial walls is supported, documented, etc.
And for the record, I do believe what he says about the sources of Vitamin C being marginal. The processes used to extract or make ascorbic acid have to come into question, because we can't take it for granted that what is on the label is what is in the bottle. Dr.
Hulda Clark has found many nutritional products are contaminated with toxins, and I have read reports of independant labs discovering that potencies were incorrect too often.
Whole foods today are not always the best either, but at least you get it all in one package. Where were they grown, what was used as a fertilizer, what is the condition of the soil, what kind of air and water toxins is the vegetation exposed to, what was used for pesticides? Who knows what is in anything today!! Even the word organic is disgustingly abused.
A complex is ususally much better than a singled out nutrient. Our bodies and chemistry are very complex, so why wait for research to catch up? Although Ascorbic acid is a wonderful thing, I still believe that the whole Vitamin C compound would make the single nutrients more effecient. I feel too many people are taking supplements that don't include the support system of minerals and enzymes to make them effective.
Jon Barron doesn't support taking daily vitamins, but prefers to see people get their daily support from food, and his emphasis seems to be on healing herbal combinations. This is where I disagree with him because I don't feel it is possible at all to get daily nutritional support without supplements. However, I do hold the man in high regard and find him a great source of information, and find his products to be very effective. It doesn't bother me that he sells supplements, because everyone who wants to fix the ills of the world, does the same thing in some way or other, through books, videos, products, speaking fees, clinics, consultations, etc. We just have to decide for ourselves where the value of our dollar goes. AFter all, without their research and expertise, we wouldn't know about the wonderful world of alternative therapies and good nutrition.
Just my two cents.
