Tinnitus and TMJ?

I have tinnitus and started noticing it about 10 years ago. I have had hearing tests and allergy tests and surgery for a deviated septum (which DID need to be fixed). . . after doing some research, I believe that my tinnitus is caused by TMJ problems. I have been to TMJ specialists and so far have gotten no good results - still pain, swelling, and still ringing. I have at this point accepted and can tune out the tinnitus most of the time. However, I sure would like advice if people have had success with TMJ treatment and relief of tinnitus. The last specialist I went to said that it would be ~ $5,000 to fix the jaw - I am a struggling PhD student and that is out of the question! Tweet
