Foods and supplements are great to help the body to heal but they do not remove mercury from the body. DMPS and DMSA are extremely safe when used appropriately. Alpha lipoic acid is the only chelator that will take mercury out of the brain.

Please note that the chelation recommendations that Torrie gives at her website are dangerous. Taking ALA in large quantities once per day will drive mercury INTO the brain. It is best to avoid cilantro because it can also drive mercury into the brain. The research on cilantro is extremely limited, no one knows what the active ingredient(s) are and therefore no one knows how to use cilantro to remove mercury. There are many, many reports in chelation group archives from people who were damaged severely and irreversibly by taking high dose ALA once per day or by using cilantro.

The problems with DMPS, DMSA, and ALA occur when poisoned people take large doses infrequently. DMPS must be taken every 8 h, DMSA every 4 h, and ALA every 3 h in order to maintain steady blood levels. Steady blood levels of chelator lead to a net removal of mercury from the body and a minimimal amount of damage.

If a person finds that they feel ill with small doses of chelator then the dose of chelator must be lowered even further. Many severely poisoned, sensitive people are finding that they need to start at 10-15 mg chelator per dose.
