Severe Hearing Loss

Around the end of the year 2000, I had lost nearly all of my hearing. I had cancer and I also had an abssess for which my appendix had to be removed but before that took place my doctor tried to treat it with gentamycin and something else but I forgot the name of it. It was told me by a nurse while my hearing was still intact that I might lose it by taking gentamycin. About a month or two later, I began to lose my hearing gradually for about the next five or six months. I believe that the hair cells in my ear were destroyed. I don't know if I have any left but if they're still in there, they are not functioning like they should. As of yet I haven't come across anyone that knows of anything that can definitely help my condition and I haven't heard of anyone with hearing loss similar to mine who has restored their hearing, although I have heard of people even in my own family who have experienced hearing loss and then used something that restored their hearing. However, those things did not work for me. Can anyone help me?
