Re: delayed vaccination schedule until baby is 1 yr old

You can most certainly send your child to school without being vaccinated. Almost all states allow for a religious exemption and some also allow for a philosophical exemption. Please check out http://www.vaclib.org/ . You can find your state and the regulations.

If you still decide to vaccinate, here is a more sensible schedule:

If you don't want your child vaccinated until later, your pediatrician can't give them to him/her. The problem will be if your pediatrician will want to keep your child as a patient. I have found a holistic pediatrician who doesn't vaccinate her own children just so I don't have a problem going forward (my children were vaccinated but I will no longer allow it).

Also, be aware that while your child is in the hospital (if you are giving birth in a hospital) you will be badgered to give your child the HepB vaccine. Do not give in! A friend of mine just had a baby and told them she didn't want him to have the HepB but they wore her down and she finally gave in.
