No, while its true that mercury is released continuously from dental amalgam, Amalgams start out being 50% mercury and if you still have a viable filling there is a lot of mercury in it that will still be released. While the release rate may be less for older amalgam, its also true that your body burden will also be high already so you have less ability to deal with the mercury being released. Amalgams will release mercury and contribute to body burden and affect health for as long as they are in the body. Also, many of the adverse effects are due to immune reactivity, and if you have mercury in the body you can have significant adverse effects.
