UPDATE on 5 years old with Swollen LYMPHS - possible STREP

I posted this below too...but wanted to make sure that it is visible, sorry for the double post. I just want to get advice. (for those who missed the original post, look below at the end of page)

Went to the regular doctor today. She checked him out, tried to do throat culture, my son refused...was scared...so she stormed out of the room (maybe menopause...?), came back with a presciption for broad range antibiotic....Zithromax http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/rxdrugprofiles/drugs/zit1499.shtml (generic brand is AZITHROMYCIN sus. 200/5ml)
She said that she thinks he has strep, but can't be sure without a culture. But she said that all the signs are strep; swollen glands, red throat, fever couple days prior, nausea, etc....) But she said that even though she doesn't know if it's strep, she'd prescibe the antiobiotic anyway..because he also has RED EARS (inside).

I tried to drill her about the Antibiotics , saying that I don't like giving it to him, i haven't done it for 3 years...bla bla. Asked her about known side effects of ZITHROMAX....she said she wasn't sure...maybe some stomach irritation...(wth??)
She said that if it's strep, I should worry about rheumatic fever, etc....

Anyway, I did buy the Antibiotics , but also stopped by local Peoples pharmacy and got their advice. They said; oil of oregano, olive tree leaf, Quantum Nucleotide Complex (link: http://www.vpnutrition.com/product_info.php/products_id/56) plus some probiotics....

What is your take on this? I am worried about the strep, but I am also worried about giving my son bunch of Antibiotics for 5 days...

Tonight before bed I gave him; water with one drop of undilluted oregano oil (yikes!), drops of olive tree extract with water, echinacea and golden root extract (2 mg), vitamin C (500 mg), 3 pills of Quantum Nucleotide complex, Colloidal Silver in son's ears, and some under tongue, rubbed eucalyptis oil on his chest and lymphs, put some castor oil on his lymphs, gave him 1/3 of BIO-K (acidophilis, casei)...

what do you think?

I am worried if this is strep though...will those things kill it?
