Re: need help for my mother
Probably the first thing your mother needs to do is start moving. If nothing else, have her sit in an old fashioned rocking chair and rock for at least an hour a day. She needs to put some energy in it, but just the rocking motion will stir up the lymph. She also needs to raise her legs up when she is lying down so the lymph won't pool in her legs and feet. Sadly this condition can indicate early stages of heart disease. If she is able to stand and balance I would suggest you get her a rebounder or mini trampoline, you can get a good starter model at Walmart for $20.00. She does not have t jump, just bounce with he feet staying on the surface. She can use a chair for balance, or some more expensive rebounders have support rails.
I would also suggest she do some gentle colon cleansing. The product I am using now is called Capra Cleanse from Swanson Vitamins. It is much more gentle than the Lower Bowel Balance, Psyllium and Bentonite, and even
Oxypowder cleanses you read about. Capra Cleanse also detoxifies the liver and is alkalizing. (I have back problems and can barely walk, there's no way I could handle the diarrhea most
Colon Cleanses produce, I doubt if your Mom could either)
If her skin is not too frail dry skin brushing might help her lymph problem. Use a very gentle natural bristle brush with a long handle, I get mine at Walmart for $0.94. Just stroke the body gently alway going toward the abdomen. Its not an instant cure, but it does help. Horse Chestnut might be a good supplement for her to try. It revs up circulation and helps with leg swelling.
Rather than force her to change her diet all at once, try and get her to add a lot of leafy green vegetables to her present diet. These low calorie, nutrient dense foods will give her plenty of minerals, alkalize her body and cleanse the liver. Collards, Mustard, Kale, some spinach, dark leaf lettuce, Romaine lettuce, Swiss Chard, Broccoli, and Cabbage should be included at least twice a day. If she refuses to eat these then a green "Superfood" drink will help. I use Green Max from Swanson Vitamins, but there are many excellent brands. E-mail me and I'll send you my green tonic recipe. It has done wonders for my health.
Start slowly with your mother, 60 is not old, but she is probably set in her ways. Also, she may be suffering from mild
Depression and that makes change difficult. Explain that her swollen legs may be warning signs of several serious problems, but she can deal with them in the early stages if she'll start taking care of herself now. Later down the road, you might want to have her do more involved things like a liver flush, but don't force too much at once.
One more thing, its very important to get her to drink the juice of a fresh squeezed lemon every morning in a cup of very warm (not boiling) water. This will cleanse the liver, kidneys, stimulate the colon and help improve circulation. Even if she just does the lemon juice and rocking, its a good start, but is probably not a cure in itself.
