Re: How are you doing, 59636?
Yes, it is healing. Thanks for asking! And thanks to ALL of you who have replied back to me!!
My son had a friend over on Monday, who's mom happens to be a nurse. So when she came to pick up her son, I showed her my thumb and asked her about it. She felt that because of the intense itching, it was most likely a fungus. I've been treating it as a fungus since then. (I had started treating it as a fungus a couple of days before she saw it actually.) The skin is almost completely healed now, and it only itches mildly a couple of times a day. (The itch used to be quite intense!)
My nail IS a little yellow too though, which means either the apple cider vinegar died it a little yellow, or the fungus found it's way to my nail as well. I found this website:
http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_nail.htm
which had some suggestions of things to try when you have a fungus on your nail. These things included several of the things people have suggested here, by the way, such as the apple cider vinegar, Oil of Oregano, Lavendar Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, etc. I've been using some of the above, as well as Tea Tree Oil.
One thing the website suggested which I've not done yet is to apply one of the above to the nail, and then to apply some DMSO on top of that. The website said the DMSO would help carry the other substance (Tea tree oil, Oil of Oregano, etc.) into the nail better. Things have been incredibly busy this week, so I've not had time to drive 30 minutes across town to the health food store which carries DMSO yet. Perhaps I'd get the DMSO quicker if I just order some online! lol
Thanks again to all of you who posted in this thread! I very much appreciated the help!! :-)
