Re: To Kathryn101 and Ev
Hi 39927...I'm so glad you have the surgery behind you. I don't remember the doctor
mentioning the prolapsed...but I had the enlarged globular...I also had Endometrosis
and Fibroids and didn't even know it. But I came through mine fine, and I'm sure
you will be back to your old self soon, too.
Don't let people make you feel guilty for turning down work right now. You have just had major surgery...and you deserve to pamper yourself and be pampered.
So many times...or probably MOST times...our 'mindset' controls how we will respond
to or react to illnesses and other bad things that come our way. You want to take
plenty of time to heal and get your strength back before any strenuous (sp?) work...but you don't want to make yourself feel like an invalid either. You are
going to 'be' ... what you tell yourself you 'are'. :-)
I was horribly afraid of the surgery...I don't remember if I told you or not. But
I don't wake up well after being put to sleep...and I was horrified of being put
to sleep. The doctor assured me that I would be wide awake and talking by noon (my
surgery was at 7am). But as it turns out..."I" was right...I didn't wake up until
the afternoon of the 2nd day. Then had a fever and had to stay 2 more days...but
the morning after I came home, I was outside walking up and down our driveway...working on getting my strength back. (My surgery was in June)
I had the old fashioned 'incision' kind...and had a total hysterectomy. The doctor
had tried to talk me into the bandaid surgery or whatever they call it. But I said
'NO'...I wanted what they had been doing for decades...not something new. :-)
Later he told me if he had talked me into the 'quickie'...he would have had to
do BOTH because with the uterus so large...there was no way he could have done the
other...he ran into complications and even had to call in another surgeon to do what
he did.
You're going to be fine, 39927...but don't rush it. Pamper yourself a bit and give
your body time to get over the shock of it's life. :-) But also, think positive
and move forward...you have just given yourself a great gift...and I assure you...
you won't regret it. Congratulations on getting this behind you. kathryn
