Are glandulars safe?

I was told to take a product with glandulars for my adrenals. I decided not to take it, but I'd like to see what the consensus here on the boards is. I have two main concerns:

1. I see there was a confirmed case of mad cow here in the states. Ingesting the glands makes the risk of infection much higher than just eating the meat.

2. I was told by an immunologist years ago that if I became allergic to a glandular, my body could become allergic to my corresponding organ and begin to attack it. She said she had seen this in her patients and to never use glandulars.

What do you all think?

Is anyone doing better with their adrenals without using glandulars?
