Re: Best cayenne? Anyone know? I DO! I DO!!
Minnie,
First of all, if you're using "normal" cayenne (like you'd purchase at Wal-Mart or virtually ANY health-food store), it probably doesn't matter if you take it in capsules or not...in fact, usually the strength (measured in Heat Units/HU) is SO incredibly low and the herbs are so incredibly weak, dried, processed and without essential oils...that it doesn't matter if you take them at all :( The HU of this kind of Cayenne is generall rated at a 40,000 or below (which is very ineffective)
But when taking REAL Cayenne (as marketed by Schulze, Southern Botanicals, Pacific Botanical and other reputable herbal companies...of which there's only a handful), the kind of Cayenne (or Cayenne blend) that has the benefits & effects that Cayenne is noted for...the HU rating will be 150,000 - 300,000.
If you encapsulate good quality, high HU Cayenne and take it orally, two things will happen that you don't want:
#1. Immediately upon taking ground Cayenne (or tinctured), the mouth senses HOT, and immediately produces enzymes and sends messages to your stomach to get ready NOW. And without the "mouth reaction" the stomach reaction doesn't work the way it's supposed to work to process the herb the way it should.
#2. If you take a capsule of good, strong Cayenne (which bypasses your mouth/taste buds) and doesn't send the right message to your stomach...and then the gel caps sit there for several minutes while dissolving...your stomach will be hit with a super strong, concentrated burning dose of pepper all in one tiny spot (that hasn't been diluted at all)...and more than likely, you'll end up doubled over with stomach pain & burning. Of course, it will dissipate, and it doesn't do ANY harm to the lining of your stomach (no matter what you read or hear)...but it sure as heck will be uncomfortable (to say the least).
And that's what I know about that :o)
For further (incredible!) information, go to Google, and type in "Schulze, Cayenne" (without the quotes)...and you'll find more miraculous information about using Cayenne and all it's benefits that you ever could have imagined.
Here's to your health!

P.S. By the way, I frequently use both ground & tinctured Cayenne from Southern Botanical or Schulze's site. The first time I got it, I made 2
quarts of fresh, homemade V-8 juice and added, get this, 1/8 of a teaspoon of ground Cayenne to the two
quarts of juice. It was so hot, we could barely stand to drink it! Now that's what Cayenne is SUPPOSED to be!!
Also, it's amazing how 'short lived' the burn is when taking the tincture. It feels like you're breathing fire for just a few minutes, and then 'wallah', the burn disappears. It's NOT like the kind of burn that burns for hours...so don't be afraid. Cayenne is THE ultimate herbal cure for bleeding ulcers, so no matter HOW hot it feels, you don't need to worry about it burning the lining of your stomach or mucous membranes.
(Edit) And here's what all Cayenne can do, and why not to take it in capsules:
Here's a great link for all the benefits of Cayenne:

Note what
Dr. Schulze says: "Dr.
Richard Schulze - "If you take cayenne pepper in capsules, you may be wasting your time and never getting the cures I got with my patients."
And here's why this is true:
