You don't have to bounce high. You don't even have to lift your feet from the mat if you don't want to. My kids do and do all kinds of tricks on it, but they can't do the stuff they do on an outside one. It is not as big around and not as springy, kind of like bouncing on the bed. Oh yes you will lose weight. If you can get the videos for the work outs that would be helpful but I never did. I just bounce... on both feet sometimes..on one foot..I jog on it..I dance on it. It's fun. It is said to burn more calories than jogging. I don't know, but I feel so much better when I do it. I started doing it after a hernia surgery to try to tone my muscles back up. It gave me a butt lift, and my double chin went away. I started bouncing only 2 minutes at a time. I would bounce for 2 min. then walk on the treadmill for 2 min. then rest. I did it several times a day. Then I added 1 minute to each exercise a day. I can bounce and walk for 1 hour at a time now. It took a year for me to work up to this because I was really sick.
