Question about beauty product.

Hi Kelly Hayford,

This question might not belong here, but I would like to know your opinion on a product I have used in the past. I agree with your views on nutrition/health and would really value any input you may have on the following product.

It is called MFIII of Switzerland Placenta Extracts. They claim to practice Live Cell Therapy of the fetal cells from sheep, yet they're called placenta extracts so I'm not sure exactly what it is. They also claim to be produced in a large plant located in Switzerland and have many different quality certifications.

There are 30 capsules in a package and the ingredients are listed as:

Ovine Extracts Concentrated 10:1 400mg, Marine Protein 200mg, Vit C 60mg (from Acerola Extract 120mg).

Here are some descriptions of the product from the website http://www.mf3swiss.com/:

"-According to Dr. Niehans' proven theory, they circulate from the site of injection until they recognize and congregate at the human counterpart of the organ from which they were taken (liver cells go to the liver, sex cells go to the sexual organs, heart cells go the heart, etc.). These young cells, which are functionally organ specific but not species specific, imprint their vigor upon old, tired, and degenerating cells, stimulating them to function with renewed efficiency. The organ itself then retains its vigor and vitality.

-MFIII bio-capsules bypass the stomach and dissolve in the small intestine where the active ingredients are fully absorbed by the body. The advantage of dissolution in the small intestine instead of in the stomach is that it avoids the destruction of active peptides and their functions by gastric acid, thereby ensuring the bio-availability of the cell elements consumed. It is currently the most advanced bio-technological product with a very high metabolic activity. Its active ingredients are small molecular peptides which are absorbed by the body WITHOUT losing their effects to induce regenerative functions.

-The placenta extracts of MFIII are from cell culture. They are very pure raw materials WITHOUT any foreign contents and are 99% water soluble.

-The ratio of active ingredients in MFIII was set after prolonged research and trials in various scientific fields labored towards achievement of the best concentration of the active ingredients. Both the inner ingredients and outside lac of MFIII capsules are stabilized. MFIII products are all extracted from small peptide fractions with the molecularly large fats, proteins, and hormones removed. They are further cultivated by Cell Culture with the end results of the active parts separated and purified. They are thus very pure and do NOT contain any other unnecessary ingredients."

I would really appreciate your opinion here because of your understanding on how our body assimilates certain nutrients. Would taking this product be much different than maybe taking certain supplements made of the same nutrients? Are ovine extracts just another way of saying sheep proteins?

For example, I've recently been taking Cod liver oil supplements and it has helped my skin to be soft and radiant which I also experienced after taking MFIII. Is this just another marketing scandal rather than an actual remarkable and beneficial supplement.

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm asking you to think for me, I am very naive at times. I would just like an opinion from someone who has a better understanding of how this actually works in the human body. I really appreciate your time and thoughts.

Sincerely,

Basia P.
