Yes, I am.
I used to work as a photographers assistant to one of the best photographers in the nation. I'm a total snob when it comes to portraits, and I'll be happy to blame it on the photographer if you say I'm way off base. If I were helping you find the right pose, I would have had your wife either nestled in to you some way, or behind you with a hand on your arm or shoulder or something. I'd want to see you touching each other in a comfortably affectionate way. Preferably with your heads cocked slightly towards each other. Your photographer had her place her hands in her lap and face away from the rest of her family. It makes her look completely detatched. I would have been happier to see her picking your nose. At least it would have shown some connection.
She looks really happy in the picture with the horse, though!
