Re: The Structure of Nothing . According to my peasant logic: 1 + 1 = 2.

I share the same curiosity;
I do see it slightly different;
By analysing the way time and space warps around a black hole, it seems that an object of great gravitational field is capable of "swallowing" time-space fabric itself, indicating that this fabric interacts with "physical" particles.
It does seems bizarre that timespace has a physical component to it and we certainly haven't been able to grasp it, but if you think in these terms, than the emptiness (timespace) that allows for physical interactions to occur wasnt present before a big bang. In other words, if this universe (apparently expanding) begins to contract back due to gravitational forces into a single point (like a yo-yo effect?), then all information (any measurable and immesurable component of the universe, timespace included) will be clumped back into that single point leaving "nothing" behind. Now this is where my human mind fails to understand (words also can't describe it), since when I see the word nothing I put the meaning behind it that nothing is present outside of that single point, only emptiness; but what is emptiness when there isn't even space and time itself present?
I mean if that single point is allowed to expand into a universe, there must be at least the potential outside of that point capable of "existing". That's as far as I can go.
I find it interesting how on a perfect vacuum at ~2.7K physicists are able to the see "birth" of particles and anti particles for a brief periods of time. These phenomena, due to quantum fluctuations further tell me that timespace is in fact part of that "quantum stuff", where from madness comes something we can measure (physical particles) even for a brief period of "time". That also tells me why we can't (yet) cool down to zero Kelvin (close but never there), because even by eliminating physical particles via conventional methods to form a vacuum, that fabric is always there which keeps the temp. from dropping to zero due to its quantum "heat".
Now, things most likely get interesting near and inside the black hole, because that "vacuum" is so powerful that timespace begins to warp and being sucked inside, so at the event horizon, where timespace is flowing inwards we might see a drop to zero Kelvin as we make our way in the black hole, ceasing to exist in this universe.
But where is all that information (measurable and immeasurable "particles") that was captured from this universe, is it lost?
Yes it most likely was mangled in such way that it can't be retrived back in a way which can't be deciphered has to what was its nature before it was swallowed, but it is not lost forever. It most likely is compacted into its primitive form, ready to "exist" again.
Now, question is, does a black hole swallows information to an exaustion point where it "big bangs" itself forming another universe, or is the info being swallowed and feed (on a continuous mode) to another universe?
For all I know this universe can be expanding due a black hole from another universe "dumping" in "shredded info" from its universe into ours (while ours is doing the same).
Crazy, crazy.
In the end, the big picture is as big as your mind let's it be; free your mind and you'll see its infinity.
