We treat our animals better than that!

When my dear friend and companion of 15 years (my dog) was ready to die, she quit eating and drinking. She would lay in the grass in the front yard all day under the shade of the tree. After a couple of days of this, I took her to the vet - who told me that there was nothing to do for her. She was old - had live a full life and was ready to die. But...he told me that to let her die that way would be cruel - a very slow, painful and torturous end for her. He said that without food and water, she would have internal bleeding and would eventually experience convulsions. I was encouraged to make the compassionate decision to have her put down.

I wanted to scream when I read that Terri felt no pain and that she was "resting peacefully". No wonder...they had to load her up with Morphine!
