INTERVIEW WITH GIRI BALA
This is from my group, Giri Bala Interview:

As for the discussion on people who choose not to eat - my question is:
> Why?
** Why stop eating you ask. The reason, for me, is a purely spiritual one.
Fasting has always been associated with the "spiritual process" down thru the
ages. Foods not only clogs up the body, they also clog up your channel to God,
IMO. Foods fill the blood with foreign substances which have their effects
on the body, and in turn, on our consciousness. Foods affect consciousness!
So, thru the elimination of foods (or by in depth fasting), one should come
into a state of being in which one's connection to God becomes more
clear and conscious. And this is the prime reason for choosing to not eat.
> ...And if they are
> trying to control one body function - why not all of them? Why not stop
> breathing and see if they can keep living?
** Actually, in what i believe to be the highest state of "samadhi," one can do
precisely that - stop breathing and stop the heart from beating, and one can
remain in that state for an indefinite period of time and return finally to the
normal waking state with no damage to the body at all. And this state of
samadhi is most easily attained by one who does not eat.
> Or why not stop drinking water
** And, regarding water consumption, Real Breatharians basically also never
drink water because it is simply no longer required for the cleansing of the
body.
> or blinking their eyes?
** Eye blinking control, on the other hand, is something that only the greatest
of the cosmic masters can attain (hehehehe .. just kidding) :)
> It is not control over my body that I want, it is to recognize the truth
> of who I am.
** What I would say to you about that, is this: If recognizing who you are
is truly a valid spiritual quest, then you will be able to attain that
objective
more easily when your blood is clean and your head clear, and that clarity
will come best when you are free from blood pollution by foods.
> This does not take extreme measures; but rather, simply
> becoming quiet and listening for the voice within.
** You will find that your the quality of your meditation will be greatly
enhanced when your gut is free from foods.
> LINDA: ... I wonder why we focus so much on the physical?
** Not to be argumentative here, but, sometimes I wonder why so many
folks try to minimize the Spiritual Significance and Importance of the Physical
