It is a shame that some bureaucrat feels that they have the right to interfer in an individuals choice of how to live and die.
The real shame is that Abraham should have the right to make his own decisions whether or not his parents or society feels that it is or is not the right decision. He should be counciled but not forced.
Quality of life is more important then living for the sake of living itself.
My wife who passed of cancer recently was faced with this decision and chose the alternative route. She lived longer than the doctors had projected that she would with traditional therapy and suffered less. She actually only started to fail seriously after she was given a pain medication that she was allergic to (not saying that this was the only cause).
